What comes to your mind when you hear "comfortable dress shoes" or "healthy dress shoes"?
Probably the same thing I pictured, or anyone I talk to pictures when I use those words. Big, boxy, clunky, etc.; definitely not the cover of Vogue.
This is probably why most people think you have to choose: style or comfort...But what if you didn't?
At Free Form Shoes, we believe looking sharp shouldn't hurt. That's why we designed our toebox to give classic aesthetics while also allowing your foot to contour to it's natural shape.
At first glance, our shoes look like a normal dress shoe…but they’re not. We took all the things we loved about traditional dress shoes — Goodyear welt, luxurious leather and suede, timeless styles — and combined them with some healthy features.
The Free Form Toebox gives you something magical. Almost too good. Even discerning eyes have trouble seeing the mystery behind the sleek silhouette.
When you wear a pair of Free Forms you get a toebox that allows the feet and toes to splay into their natural position. This prevents your big toe and little toe from being forced into the rest of your toes and misaligning the joints. Over the course of a day this is more noticeable, since your feet swell as your out and about.
How does the magic happen? In a word: Angles.
Majority of shoes pull the peak of the shoe out over the center of the foot, giving you a classic point. While it is symmetrical, our feet are not, hence the comfort issues.
We changed the angle towards the big toe. This maintains a classic aesthetic that even deceives us sometimes. This simple change is what allows the toes to stay in natural alignment. When joints are in alignment, our bodies are more comfortable. No shoe is a cure in and of itself, but more room is better than less.
The goal with our Toebox was to create a dress shoe that looked elegant and performed flawlessly. We wanted to have our cake and eat it too. You get the perks of a natural Toebox for your health, and the classical aesthetics and craftsmanship for your sartorial style.
